Edgcumbes (and BSA Member), the well-known local coffee roasters & tea merchants, are expanding again! Following two busy summers with their outside courtyard becoming increasingly popular, Edgcumbes knew that the Edge Café had to expand to accommodate customers for the cooler months.
The award-winning family run business began trading in 1981 and, since opening their first takeaway café at their Sussex Roastery in 2015, business has been thriving ever since. In 2018 the EDGE Café, located on Ford Lane near Arundel, moved into the converted stables opposite their Roastery – where the magic happens – creating a range of award-winning coffee and tea blends from all over the world.
The additional café space was formally opened at the Edgcumbes Winter Market, 10am -3pm Saturday 30th November 2019.
Open 7 days a week, the warm, welcoming and vibrant space is designed with the community in mind. As well as larger tables and snuggly sofas, the space will have additional features such as: workspaces, board games, books for customers to enjoy, along with free WIFI. Located just outside of Arundel, the EDGE café is a popular destination for coffee and tea enthusiasts across Sussex along with many tourists and visitors.
“We want to encourage all members of the local community to take advantage of our new space. From families, wheelchair users and commuters to dog walkers and cyclists – we aspire to be accessible for everyone.” Alice comments, “The EDGE Café is a haven for coffee and tea lovers, we roast our coffee on site and hand blend our loose leaf teas for customers to enjoy in our cosy, well-designed café, or to purchase in refillable tins for home use.”
Not only do Edgcumbes boast an array of coffee and tea from exotic locations, EDGE Café manager Charlotte Pink proudly explains: “Our innovative and growing menu is vegan friendly and we offer a variety of milk options for our hot drinks”. “The turmeric latte with coconut milk is a firm favourite” – Alice Rendle adds.
Edgcumbes have a long-term plan to invest in the local economy by supporting local suppliers – many of whom have been invited to showcase their products at their Winter Market on Saturday 30th November. “We were overwhelmed with the amount of people that came to enjoy our summer market, so we are thrilled that we are able to host a second event this year” said Charlotte.
Over a dozen local businesses including Pinks Vintage Ice Cream, Noble & Stace Chocolatiers and Arundel Brewery will be coming together to raise money for The Sussex Snowdrop Trust. Providing the perfect opportunity to SHOP LOCAL this Christmas whilst enjoying live music, fresh coffee and delicious food! “Come along and sample the products on offer, we are sure you find something unique to tickle your taste buds.” invited Alice. “However, there is a lot more than just food available. I believe there will be handmade bath bombs and wax melts too”.
