Beverage Standards Awards 2011

The Beverage Standards Association confirms a new Awards programme for 2011.

The Aims of the Awards, covering England, Wales and Scotland, subject to geographical conditions, are:-
1. Establish nationally recognised standards for cafes.
2. Identify and recognise excellence of drinks quality in the Café Market.
3. Encourage best service standards.
4. Support good staff development and training.

There are two principal Award Categories:-
1. National Grading Standards for all nominated sites judged.
1.1 The highest ranked standard being 5 cups.
1.2 Down to the lowest of 1 cup.

2. Best Drinks Awards:-
2.1 Best Espresso
2.2 Best Cappuccino, Latte or Flat White Coffee
2.3 Best Filter or Cafetiere Coffee.
2.4 Best Tea.
2.5 Best Hot Chocolate.

Benefits:-
Audited BSA judging reports to each venue. These will be confidential to the establishment and will give impartial; constructive advice on the visiting judge’s assessment. Reports will assist entries in their pursuit of excellence.
Laminated adhesive window stickers to promote trade identifying:-
The Grading  Cup Standard Achieved
Best Individual Drinks Award Winners
National publicity in media, press and through the BSA website for participants and winners.
Articles on winners including photographs and promoting signature drinks and staff.
Other awards to be announced.

Judging:-
BSA trained judges will visit all entries unannounced as mystery shoppers.

Who Can Enter:-
Entrants may be BSA or non BSA Members
BSA members will pay £30 per entry. Non-members will pay £45. One fee covers all award categories.
Entries can include cafes, tea shops, cafes within hotels, restaurants, mobiles, beverage carts, industrial/works beverage sites, service areas. They may be individually owned or part of a group. Nominations may be made by owners, suppliers, or consultants, who may or may not be BSA members.
